Iowa has long been home to some of America’s best schools, teachers and students, and enjoys a national reputation for educational excellence. So, why is there a need to change?
For one thing, to make sure students have the skills to be prepared for college, careers and citizenry. In Iowa today, employers are seeking people with the analytical skills, critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities to be successful.

In addition, today’s – and tomorrow’s – economy requires students need become proficient in 21st century skills and studies, such as literacy in language, finances, health, technology, and civics; knowledge of math, science, and social studies; and employability skills.
